Ten Reasons Why People Buy Business Books 1. SUCCESS. To be more successful in their work, career, business life, and personal life. 2. MONEY. To make more money. 3. TIME. To save time and enhance personal convenience by having someone else (i.e., the author) think through difficult problems and present solutions in an easy-to-use format. 4. KNOWLEDGE. Readers will buy validated original research (as long as it's packaged to be user friendly) in order to be "up" on the latest trends, research, and information in order to apply this information in their business and personal lives. 5. VOYEURISM. Readers will buy a book to see a slice of life they would not otherwise see. 6. STORY. Readers like to be entertained by a "well told yarn," or moved by an uplifting and inspiring story. 7. IDEAS AND IMAGINATION. Readers use books as a "brain transfer," i.e., as a means to "pick the brain" of experts and at the same time stimulate their own imagination. 8. DIRECTION. Readers will buy books that outline events taking place "beneath the surface," helping readers to anticipate and be prepared for future events, and avoid costly mistakes. 9. PRACTICAL HOW-TO INFORMATION. Readers want and will buy easy-to-use, practical how-to advice and information on solving difficult problems. 10. EMOTIONAL REASONS. People buy books for irrational, emotional reasons such as: to feel connected, to have faith, and to have hope. |
